Currency Converter is a Chrome extension that detects prices on web pages and displays them in the currency you choose.

What the extension does with page content

The extension reads the text of the pages you visit locally, inside your browser, to find prices and rewrite them. Page content is never transmitted anywhere. It is not stored, logged, or shared.

Data we collect

None. The extension has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, and no advertising. We do not collect personal information, browsing history, page content, or usage data.

Network requests

The only network request the extension makes is to fetch exchange rates from https://open.er-api.com (ExchangeRate-API). That request contains no information about you or the pages you visit. Rates are cached in your browser for 6 hours.

Settings

Your preferences (target currency, display mode, on/off) are stored with chrome.storage.sync, which Chrome may sync to your Google account as part of your browser settings. We have no access to it.

Permissions

• storage: save your preferences and cache exchange rates.
• Host permission for open.er-api.com: fetch exchange rates.
• activeTab and scripting: when you open the popup, the converter is injected into that tab only.
• Optional access to all sites: only if you turn on “Convert on all sites automatically” in the popup. Chrome asks for your permission first. The converter then runs on every page you visit, locally only. You can turn it off again at any time from the popup or from chrome://extensions.

The popup contains links to the author's social profiles and a donation page. Opening them is your choice; those sites have their own privacy policies.
